I guess the games MS emphasized on are just not my style, and thats why I hated it.Dance Central is the reason we own a Kinect in my household. I personally think it was pretty cool seeing the real guy do the movements that will be featured in the game.
Even having Joe Montana demo the Voice Commands on Kinect with the new Madden was cool too. I used to play football so I can get behind that and drawing up my own plays with that Smart Glass feature. It will allow me too open up defenses even better then usual.
Honestly professiornalism is ok but I equate gaming with fun and that's what MS conference looked like. Sony seemed like a strict meeting where your left wondering if you're fired or not. It's not a bad thing (the professional part) but it didn't make me hype for anything. It's not my job as a consumer to generate hype for a product that a business wants me to buy.
The 35+ Mario games was an obvious exaggeration but I felt Iike I was looking at Mario every 15 mins I came back to check. That's typical Nintendo though. I wish they would step into the big boys league already. I hope ZombiU is their first step because it's a damn good one and I hope they don't waste it.
You act like Nintendo was never a good publisher/developer (I could tell the super hyperbole. I guess its just my nostalgia makes me want to defend them), but I think it was just the wii era that nintendo was bad. and they were very bad then. In the Gamecube era, they were getting SC2, a game we would never see on the wii era (Well we did get Legends, but that game wasn't nearly as violent as all the other soul caliburs). I want to see the difference in how many M rated games are on the gamecube, then how many are on the wii. I can already name off way more remotely violent (Rather T or M games) games that would never be on the Wii. Splinter Cell Conviction (i think its that one), Resident Evil 4 (When RE was still horror, and a damn good horror at that), Turok, James Bond 007, and a bunch of others. I think Nintendo just got very, very bad and major on "family fun" during the wii age, and thats why they were not as good. Wii U, I think Nintendo understands why they were so bad. 1st party games was what the wii LIVED on, so of course they want to show they still have first party games running. Luigis mansion and Paper Mario are major fan favorites, and will be very popular. I agree ZombiU is a great step in the right direction. A true core-gamer survival game that actually looks good. What did the wii games have that were good? Mario, Zelda, Kirby. And Red Steel 2 (I think thats the right game. the uber violent wii game) and monster hunter. But the games that were good on Wii were also better on other systems. Even the vita has a more powerful monster hunter. So Nintendo was never really bad, just the Wii was. Nintendo was bad at that time. They'll do just fine on the Wii U, I'd say. Better controller, better graphics, it already looks much better than the Wii.
