E3!!!!

After watching the three main conferences I feel a bit let down. It was an improvement over last year's mess but so much potential was wasted.

Microsoft were doomed from the start. They couldn't reveal the new console because it would eat into the 360 sales or it just simply wasn't far enough along to be worth showing off. The only core games were shooters (except Forza) and everything else was about the crappy Kinect.

Sony had tons of games but many of them looked bland (Sony Battle Royale and the Vita spinoffs) or stupid (Wonderbook was a joke that shouldn't jave been on stage for that long). The most disappointing thing about this conference was the lack of a surpirse. It's great seeing gameplay and trailers of games we know about but there weren't any shocks that would have really hyped up the audience. I must admit that The Last Of Us and couple of other games were interesting though.

Nintendo started off strong showing how powerful and unique the Wii U is. Pikmin 3 looks like another great game in the series and the updated version of Arkham City gave me the impression that developers wouldn't just port stuff to the Wii U. After that though, the conference rapidly went downhill. A lot of time was wasted on Singing and dancing games that have grown out of control in recent years and waaaay too much time was wasted on Nintendo Land. There was also an oversaturation of Mario games with the 3DS Mario Bros being the worst of the bunch. Most disappointing though was the lack of a Retro Studios title. I was expecting it after the Nintendo Land presentation but it never came. The online of the console has potential but we'll see. Finally, it was nice seeing TTT2 coming to Wii U with a few Nintendo items thrown in but that was the few things that stood out for me.

Sony>Ninetendo>Microsoft

Nintendo made me cry big terrible tears of WTFness. I think theirs was worse than Microsofts. ZombieU looked ok, it just looked awesome cuz everything else (sans Paper Mario) looked terrible. I mean, it's cool if you wanna take old games and rework em, but just dont spend 20 minutes talking about it. Announcing a mario game for the 3ds RIGHT AFTER announcing a mario game for the WiiU completely undermines the one for the WiiU. No word Zelda (honestly shocked), SSB4, or any new IPs, it was all mario with a little bit of Pikmin and bullshit sprinkled in. I felt like this conference was supposed to get me wanting a WiiU, and it didnt. Fail.

The people at Kotaku anticipated this, no new announsments, just old games or games that continue a franchise (Pikmin, Mario). In my opinion the only fresh thing we see at Nintendo conference was the ZombieU, to much time spent in Dance Central 4 and Nintendo Land, but the mini games in Nintedo Land looks interesting.

Right now I won't get Wii U until I see a Zelda and a Smash.

Hopefully they have some surprises for tomorrow. I can't believe how weak the WiiU presentation was, I had expected far better. And I haven't seen the Xbox one, but it doesn't sound like worth my time, I'll just wait for a summary.
