Hi,
Just thought I'd say 'hello', after recently joining this forum.
Haven't really played a Soulcalibur game since the second one on Dreamcast - in fact I didn't really play any post-Dreamcast fighting game. Like lots of others, though, 'Street Fighter IV' brought me back out of the woodwork.
Love 'Street Fighter IV', in all it's incarnations (I'm a Rose player), but never got my head around 'Marvel vs Capcom 3' (never liked a Vs game much, TBH, apart from 'Capcom vs SNK') and, following the huge disappointment that is 'Street Fighter x Tekken' (and watching Maximilian's 'Online Warrior' series) I've been very tempted to trade SFxTK in for SCV.
Picked up SCIV for a few quid today and have been having great fun mashing buttons against the computer. Took it online for a few games, however, and found nothing but Darth Vader players swinging their swords up and down constantly. Is that what it's always like? Is that what SC5 is like online?
So, any tips for someone who hasn't played since '99? Any suggestions who to take for a spin (as I say, I play Rose in SFIV. I'm not that good, but I don't think I'm terrible - I've won games at tournaments, built up double-digit win-streaks at local casuals, and the like. I'm okay. Ish. :))?
In fact, as someone who isn't at all keen on how rushdown-heavy and combo-oriented most fighting games are nowadays, should I even bother with SC5? Is blocking a thing that people actually do in this game? ;)
Cheers for reading!
