From Smash to Soul

oBWo

[01] Neophyte
Hello everyone, for all who can see that my screen name here is oBWo, my handle is actually just B.W. (8wayrun as well as various other forums hate it when I use periods, I call it discrimination, but my lawyer says it's not really enough to make a case.)

I've been playing games competitively for a while, though I rarely attend events as my area has very few players around, and I don't care to play online very much (lag johns all day son).

My competitive start was with Super Smash Bros. Melee, a game I still try to get people to play very often, but to no avail as the game is constantly looked at as a game of the past and people find Brawl highly competitive and skillful (to which I say NAY but I don't argue with people for liking what they like).

So I've made my ways to other fighting games such as Guilty Gear, SSF4, I even tried MK9 for a while, but nothing fit right until KoFXIII came along and I have a blast with that game even when I'm just in training mode.

So now Soul Calibur V is being released and I've taken some interest in this game. SCII was my favorite game in the series and SCIII was alright too, but I never owned a PS2 til after SC4 came out, which I didn't much care for as a person who played SC casually. But since the announcement of SCV I've been watching many SCIV videos and had come to realize that there are a lot of things in this game that are actually similar to SSBM (whether you like it or not, it's true). So I've decided once SCV releases that I'd give it a whirl, and I'm hoping that you fellas here at 8wayrun help me to keep interest in the game as well as improve.

I'm B.W. and it's pretty great to probably (but also probably not) meet you all, let's play soon!

If we are talking about SCV, then I've no clue what-so-ever. In SC2 I played casually so I played plenty of Link (lol), Yun-Seong, and Talim. But Yun-Seong and Talim didn't make a return to SCV it seems so I'll be on the hunt once I get the game.

The characters that appeal to me currently though are Dampierre, ZWEI and Xiba. Devil Jin seemed neat too, but seeing as how he's been slapped with a ban, I probably won't do more than fiddle with him.

I'm looking at playing a casual ZWEI myself, but you can see who I'm maining:
<---

Xiba would be your best bet to win with from what we know so far, but my advice would be play EVERYBODY.
=)

Everybody seems to be a good character. Can do everything, etc etc.

Bad jokes aside, I tend to play a lot of characters in games once they release to find my main and to see what's what for every character to know what to expect and to make light strategies vs other players. I do like Xiba. He looks pretty cool and fun to play. Dampierre looks awesome though and depending on how he plays I may get on that.

Otherwise who I play will probably be one of the more defensive characters of the cast, since that's normally the kind of character I go for to begin with.
