FPS...the perfect excuse for a lame game

You're missing the point. Soulcalibur and other fighting games have never oversaturated the market to the point it feels like multiple versions of the same game/theme like war shooters have. It's ridiculous and is actually the reason why I don't play FPS. Other games, like SCV and even Bioshock, deserve more attention than what they get, but get overshadowed by the same military based FPS we've seen 1000 times already.
This, this is the point, is not the similarity between sagas, is the quantity of clone games out there in the market, and people arguing about if MW3 is better than BF3 and fighting over that when actually both games are about the same.

I fell off after COD4 and I'm glad. I don't buy those for the same reason I don't but sports games. It will be a new one next year. It doesn't give you enough time to cement it as your favorite game. You have to look at the ones that come after and compare and that is the dumbest thing I ever heard.

I'm strictly a Gears fan now.

Whats the point of buying a FPS if you know that the next year a new one is gonna come, that is about the same but with improvements, and after that one there is gonna come another one, infinite cycle fueled by the masses.

Reminds me of a Simpson Episode: Lisa vs Stacy Malibu....oh look the hat is new!

I saw people so excited for COD 4and BF3 but the only FPSs I'm interested in are Bio-shock Infinite and Borderlands 2. The first a completely single player experience and Borderland's multi-player is Co-op.

I read this article from IGN ...
Take MW3 as an example the MP is just a little bit of an improvement over MW2, there is nothing there they couldn't have made with DLC.

Recent FPS are just bland and LAME LAME LAME!

first off, you can't spell ignorant without I.G.N

secondly, same could be said for recent Fighting games. We live in a world of social utopia right now, even our gaming is based off MP experience primarily. just so happens competitive aspect of said MP is the most popular.

SCIV could have definitely used more patches, MvC3, SSF4...ton of games, ESPECIALLY fighters. but hey, why release patches and updates when you can spin up a new disc and charge 60 bones for it? As log as people are willing to pay to play it. It isn't going anywhere. Funny you should bring up MW3 though...while big gaming sites (like IGN, lol) gave it great scores, users on metacritic shat all over the game with negative reviews and horrible scores. Which if anything, kinda shows that other gamers are also tired of the attention/praise some games get.

You're missing the point. Soulcalibur and other fighting games have never oversaturated the market to the point it feels like multiple versions of the same game /theme like war shooters have.

The 90's would like to have a word with you. Street Fighter mainly...how many SF2 iterations are there? counting the numerous hacks and the different home versions?

Sadly enough, Capcom is trying to cash in like that now.
