Humans are fucked.

I saw this video a year ago & it made me become vegan (for about 4 months) Then I became a vegetarian the next 2-3 months then fell in the middle but slighty more towards vegetarian versus a meat eater. So I still eat meat 2-3 times a month but ONLY at two ma & pa eat ins NO WHERE ELSE (oh I don't eat poultry or fish either)

The problem is corporations like McDonalds, KFC, Subway etc. exploit animals by turning them into "GOODS" & mass production due to the high demand. Why is there a demand? Well because they make these "GOODS" easily affordable & can easily trick or entice consumers through billboards, T.V.s, radios & web ads. Why is it affordable? Example:
You set up a lemonade stand for a dollar a cup after spending 2+ hours squeezing lemons & adjusting the right sugar amount. You notice a little girl across the street has also set up a lemonade stand but is selling her cups for half the price of what you're selling yours at. By the end of the day she sold more cups than you. Why? Because the little girl made her lemonade with instant lemonade mix.
With artificial ingredients, genetically modified "GOODS" and maybe some funding from the government you can save alot of money on labor & pocket it.

I suggest you guys watch Food Inc. & Corporation

FYI the US government fits us best as consumers not citizens :)

I'm not gonna watch this. Seeing blood makes me dizzy but I'm not a vegetarian.

No offense but I really don't understand people who somehow enjoy watching this kind of stuff.

I watched this & didn't enjoy cruelty but I did gained knowledge. This is not faces of death. Of course sane people don't ENJOY watching anything suffer but this is informative. This shows what happens "behind the kitchen." You do realize blood & feces has been covered or touched by the meat you do eat? If you don't want to SEE how you get your meat then read about it (a book by Moby called: Gristle)

As much as I enjoyed the 12 year old reading of communist manifesto above, there's a few small problems. KFC, etc don't "turn" animals into goods, they are goods. Specifically, anything which can legally be bought and solid is a good. The rest of that sentence isn't even proper grammar so I'm not sure what you mean. There is demand because people like eating, people like eating food that tastes good (to them), and they like not paying for it, and health is clearly a lower priority (sadly) for many people. It's hilarious that people manage to convince themselves that corporations manufacture demand instead of the much simpler, more logical, less assumption-riddled idea that demand is what causes corporations to come into existence in the first place.

Your example with the little girl and the lemonade is truly asinine. Insofar as there is a point worth making there, I think it is: the government does subsidize certain segments of food production, since the government's responsibility should be to the health of its citizens it should carefully consider which segments it subsidizes. So hopefully in the future, the US will try to subsidize fruits and vegetables for its citizenry rather than everything corn based.

Lmao i guess you didnt see the kosher part of the vid

Tell me what time it's at and I'll look at it and tell you what I think. Lmao at you taking this as an absolute source of knowledge rather than seeing the potential for intentional distortion, coming from people so stupid, insensitive, and biased so as to use the word "Holocaust" to describe what is happening to animals. You do realize basically any Jew (and probably Armenian, Rwandan, etc although I cannot speak for them) is pretty much obligated to say "fuck you" to anybody who uses that word that way, regardless of their sympathies, right?

Hmm, just to clarify, I never watched the video (over an hour... you must be joking).

I saw the provocative thread title, read the word dolphin and naturally assumed people had finally gotten wind of their inevitable takeover...

PETA is bat shit, they usually express it by doing really wonderful things like firebombing cancer research clinics where they use animals for research. They are pieces of shit basically.
As to why animals are treated cruelly, it's obviously not malicious I doubt the people running this industry are sadists it's just a question of price. If they treated and slaughtered them more humanely then it would be more expensive and you'd have to pay more for your food. Meat is already one of the more expensive components in a typical healthy meal for a middle class family, making it more expensive is not a good thing.

There are alternatives like free range or organic meat. They cost like three times as much.

Oh and if you want your meat to at least be killed humanely you could take a look at kosher meat, it's more money but not crazy more, and to be kosher it needs to be killed in a certain fashion. I think the same goes for Halal and it's even cheaper as its somewhat less stringent and it's a larger market (in most places).
I meant towards these sort of facilities that actually are abusing these animals. Its funny how many celebrities will do an ad for peta and then bash on them later ex betty white. saying that the way they go about their business is junior high. That they give misinformation and quite often don't find out the facts.

But because truly horrible facts such as the way they treat animals in the slaughter houses have been shown, I'm surprised that they haven't sent someone in there with a bomb to their chest and the promise of a thousand virgins.
