Obama or McCain?

Sarah Palin as VP is a shameful strategy... I hate to discredit her ability to be VP, but it really seemed like shallow and predictable move for the McCain campaign. I'd like to be wrong and have her be very good for it, but I'm not sure of that yet.

*EDIT- I looked at McCain's campaign site among other places. I take back some of what I said. It is clear
that Palin is more than the "Woman" VP to take Hillary votes. I'd be blind to say that there was no strategy in using her, but she is actually pretty well equipped to be VP.

Back on the track of videogames for a second... I said it mainly as a joke, but also a pot shot against government regulation. Regulating the media like this is the government telling people what they can put on for our benefit. I would like to say that families make that decision and act accordingly not to limit my chance to see what I (anyone else) want. I understand that it is not good for really young kids to see arguably obscene programming, but I personally think that our civil liberties are important than that. I find that as soon as we start finding exceptions, there will be more examples. The point is that freedom should not be thrown aside as long as there are other options. Videogames do not need to be censored more than they are, and placing that responsibility on the developers is regulating thought and ideas. That is only a hop and skip away from the "Seidition Acts" for a possible reason like "National Security".

I have always thought of the Republicans as the family friendly party when it came to family ideals. Though videogames and violent media has been attacked by McCain before also. It is not a product of party as much as it is a product of era. McCain and Hillary think on the basis of the Cold War. There was very much media regulation during that time at least up until Watergate Breakin... I really see the government step backwards and start treating terrorism with a containment policy.

Choosing between these two is like choosing between McDonalds and Burger King. Both will kill you, but it's all in which taste you prefer.

Obama has too many corporate friends to rock the boat, and the way he voted on the FISA bill and about oil drilling (which isn't going to lower gas prices any, hate to break it to you) mean he's a sell out. So much for change we can believe in. He's the same old thing in a shiny new package. Add to that his casual racist of a VP candidate...I'm glad he didn't pick Hillary, but he really should have considered his choice a little more.

As for McCain, he's a relic of the Cold War. His mind set isn't needed in the new world we live in today. He feels like all we need to do is threaten, berate, and intimidate people to get the job done. Plus he treats his wife like shit. Google the comment he made calling her a cunt because she said his hair was getting a bit thin up top. Some family values there. :^\ Don't even get me started on Sarah Palin. She's a religious nutcase, shitty mother, and is barely qualified to do the job she's doing right now, much less be the VP. McCain is one bad biopsy away from handing the keys to the kingdom over to her. Do we really need someone who thinks the war in Iraq is "the will of God" in or anywhere near the Oval Office? Oh, wait, we already have someone like that in there. These two will be more of what we've already had for 8 years.

Ron Paul was about the only good choice. He's the only one who wanted to talk about issues while everyone else was too busy worrying about how attractive Obama is and McCain's POW days. Everyone wants tabloid fodder rather than someone who's truly qualified to lead the country. Paul was talking about killing the roots of our problems here while everyone else was talking about cutting the weed off at ground level. He's right about a lot of things. States should be the ones to decide issues like abortion, drug laws, gay marriage, etc. It's not the job of an already too big mothering federal govt. to legislate these things.

The bottom line is, the Republicrats and the Demopublicans are one and the same. Both parties have failed this country and it's time to start giving third party candidates a chance. I wish Paul had run as an Independent. He's a much different kind of Republican than many of the ones serving these days.

I wanna shake your hand.

I don't necessarily think it needs to be a third party, but I do agree that there needs to be a fundamental change is we really to see wide scale improvement. I personally think the United States could have used a good old fashion constitutional president like Ron Paul.

Libertarians get no love though. A lot of the semi-educated masses see them as Social Darwainists.
