Super Smash Brothers Brawl

It's a plague because of... well... look at what happened with the srk thread I linked.

But you can avoid it. You just choose not to.

SRSLY, guise. Don't buy a game the day it comes out. Wait for some reviews before buying. Maybe even rent it first. Or, if you have PS3 or Xbox 360, download the demo.

I'm talking about the community, not the game. I don't care about a crap game, but if people from said game, say, come and argue shit like CY has (Not in this thread, mind you) when it isn't warranted, it gets extremely annoying at the very least.

Alright. That works for me.

I guess games being good is strictly opinion, then. Just like everything else in this world. Everyone has their input, no matter what the topic. Let's face facts, there are no facts.

I dunno about all of you but I had fun with Brawl. It's not the competitive game I was hoping it would be, but it's not horrible. With items on I bet it would be more competitive... but maybe thats just me. I like to think of the smash series as a platforming fighting game, which means I don't apply the same rules I would to other fighters.

Yeah, it was a great game for what it was supposed to be, sumo platforming with a bunch of Nintendo characters. They intentionally took out nearly all advanced techs and slowed the game down significantly to make it enjoyable by any type of player, and they did it wonderfully. It's alot easier to pick up and play.

What doesn't make it competitive is the extremely lowered ceiling for skill at the game vs. character choice. Because of the changes to the game engine, fucking up a few times usually only means you take a bit of damage instead of losing a stock; even moderate players using MK/Snake would beat a skilled player using anyone from the lower half of their tier list almost every time. (And we complain about Hilde? lol.)

What Ceirnian said about items, kinda works. I was in charge of running Brawl tournies back at WCU (large casual population, always got voted in) and I had items on to make it more interesting. Though half of the items in the game seem to have a chance of exploding on contact/fucking with the user instead, so I toned the item list down to at least things that wouldn't one-hit-kill players. We got less complaints after that.
