I'm not a huge fan of the SSB series which kinda sucks for me since Brawl is the most popular "fighting game" in Scranton -_-;

So a game doesn't meet expectations. The fault really falls on all of you for expecting too much. I found Brawl quite fun. So what if Melee is better, Brawl is still fun. If all you think about is competitive gaming, pick up something else and quit bashing a game because it isn't what you thought it was.

Brawl bashing will never stop, considering the amount of people that hate it. Competitive scenes see it as a scrub game, Melee players hate that Sakurai raped the shit out of the fighting engine, and the general internet populous is sick of hearing about how great/horrible it is. That leaves the people who do play it competitively (most of which never played Melee), and casual gamers (which was the intended audience in the first place).

However this thread's in a competitive gaming forum, so, you'll likely not see too many responses by the demographic that enjoys it. Just the way it is.
