Here's your problem

I give up. 13 wins 170 losses with Jin. I can't win at Tekken no matter who, what, where, what control type (pad or stick), skilled or unskilled. Just cannot win.

What are you doing playing Jin? Drop him and go with his alter ego, DEVIL Jin!

^_^

You will not be dissapointed my friend, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

At my local arcade scene, our cards usually look like these:

Guys who are new: 300 wins, 800 losses.
Guys who are advanced: 500 wins, 800 losses.
Guys who are considered to be just at tourney level: 1500 wins, 2500 losses. (My win count is 1500, but my losses are over 3000. I only have about a 40+% win ratio. *sheepish grin*)
Guys who are tourney regulars: 3000+ wins, 1500+ losses.
Top guys: 4500+ wins, <2000 losses.

So 170 losses is a very, very small amount for Tekken. Very small. Don't quit just because you're losing, just see which moves are doing you in, know their frames, then learn what you can punish with.

So with the new patch out has anyone noticed that a red bar is a good connection? and also that people quit the session now that its available...a lot..

goodness friend, why dont you just whore the back spinning kick or whatever the mishimas have? that used to work on me all the time until i learned to guard properly xD. keep practicing and dont give up, that game is very different from SC4. just keep at it man

Bruce is pretty good..so is bob...i play julia and raven mostly.if u have an old favorite from a previous tekken game...they really havent changed all that much

dont feel bad. every1 has that fighting game that they suck at compaired to others. tekken takes a lot more practice than SCIV anyway...a lot of moves to learn(yours and ur opponents) 40 characters with 100+ moves a piece and ppl have many different ways of playing the same character...learning curve is huge

Edit: of course u could always try different characters as well. jin just doesnt seem like ur cup of tea...i was using jin at 1st then i started messing around with julia and i naturally kicked ass with her(at least more so than with jin) then i stumbles into raven who i also feel more comfortable with....and bruce...then law...then hworang....those are the characters i use

pick a different character dude...

First off, I hate Devil Jin with a passion. Secondly, I can't Crouch Dash worth beans. Don't know how. Been trying since Tekken 3, still can't do it.

I'm not liking Bruce all that much. Too many of his juggles are difficult for me to pull off. Julia I'm not interested in. Don't like Bob or Hwoarang. Not finding Raven all that interesting either.

Jin doesn't have u/f+4,4,4,4. Only Kazuya does. I fall for it every single time. Not really interested in playing Kazuya, either. And I've been told to stay clear of Heihachi.

Tried playing Leo... 94 losses, 0 wins. I did say earlier in this thread that I don't even know where to begin with the character. The 4 moves listed in the thread helped, but that's not enough to go anywhere with her. The Tekken Zaibatsu info isn't helping me either.

Tried Lili, found her somewhat interesting, but... meh, I'd rather play someone else.

I sit in practice mode, practicing moves and combos until I can get them off well-enough. I even improv my combos and memorize those to try out. I get a good mastery on the move list before I take the character into battle. I don't pick up everything from the character via the practice mode, but I try to get a firm grip of some basic stuff. As I hope to improve, I'll go back into the practice and further my skill with the character. Of course, that really isn't happening.

In an actual fight, in a real true fight, it all falls apart. If I try to be offensive and start the battle off with Jin's d/f+1, I eat a counter hit. I try Jin's 2, 4, I lose out to some other poke. Try 1+2, I whiff it. Can't get 1, d+3,4 off. b+1,1,2 is risky as is b+1,2. Not sure what else I can start with. CD+2? Usually its interrupted. As an opening round move, it's about the only CD I can get off at the start of a match. As for the rest of the match, well I have dozens of replays and I upload new ones regularly, you only need to check my profile and download the 3 new ones I put up daily. You can see what goes wrong there.

Not sure what else to say. If Jin is bunk for me, and the above roster I mentioned aren't ones that I like or enjoy playing, then suggest another character for me to try. I'm willing and able to try and improve in some way or fashion and I'm not afraid to experiment or try a new character. But there are several characters in Tekken that I'm keenly not interested in playing.

So don't bother mentioning these guys: Feng Wei, Roger Jr. Eddy Gordo, Christie, Mokujin, Jack, Lars, Alisa, Steve, Paul, Law, Ganryu, and Wang.
