the Definition of a nerd/geek

First I'd jsut say I agree with Jaxel 100% on the definitions. And As for this:

More importantly..., are some people just born with certain traits that makes them a nerd? Like what I am saying is that even if lets say a child was rise up with parents that love to go out, enjoy sports etc. (none nerd activities) and stuff will that affect that child and make him less likely to be a nerd when he grows up or are some people just born nerds and can't change that? I always wondered that...

1. IS true. Because they spend so much time (geek) around computers/etc and (nerds) so much delved into their obsession that they never learned how to interact with other creatures except maybe a cat or something.

2. Doesn't really hit it. While its true, its also true about 95% of the ppl I've met in life. Everyone is akward at times or drops something. So doesn't really say much. But I get the idea of the comment which kinda just fits in with #1.

3. This is way too partial to what ppl consider "stylish." Some guy who runs around in Abercrombie with his collar popped wearing black socks and flip-flops (its a talent to do that bte...) all the time is gonna think the guy in a Wife-beater showing under his shirt with skulls on it wearing shorts and basketball shoes is "out of style" and the the second will think so of the first. I think what you mean more of is either 1: you are saying they are slobs and dont' care about them appearance or 2: they don't care what OTHERS think about their appearance. Neither of which is a fair assessment.

5. Those are 3 very different things...lol. And there are LOTS of ppl who THINK they are good at sports.. but suck. My god you don't know how many horrible kids I've played with at random courts that thought they were "hella good ballers" o.O. Btw... random aside...it also seems that some ppl think the color of their skin makes it so they HAVE to be good at a certain sport (example: black ppl good at basketball). So not true...

6. You can be skinny and fit just like you can be "large" and fit. But I guess I know what you mean with skinny.

9. .... "school" subjects as opposed to?? this one is just a cope-out for dumb ppl honestly. So they just say "I is durm and you is bedder soas you NERD and I not :-)"

10. i don't get why ppl find this so important.... I honestly never did. still don't. Sexual acts should stay between the ppl doing said acts. Ppl that run around saying "I totally tapped that BLA BLA BLAHHH" are just insecure about something (or were with someone whom nobody would believe they ever were "with"??). As they say for football "when you score a touchdown...act like you've been there before..." But if they are married and still haven't had sex... ...lol.

11. I've met just as many full of themselves or racist or disrespectful "nerdy" ppl as I have "non-nerdy" ppl... so this one doesn't hold any meaning really. If anything it just means they are shy and aren't willing to get into a situation to show ppl anything about themselves while a lot of "non-nerdy" ppl are very willing to be complete assholes on a regular basis..lol.

And to freaky... yea... Axe doesn't give you swagga'... ... Old spice does ;P lol.

To 3.) Ok... stylish. That means what is in style at the time or doesn't make you look like a complete tard. (either the popped collar guy or white trash Bball reject) So... stylish doesn't really mean what it is to you, it is what everyone around you has deemed cool, therefore if you don't want to look like a nerd, dont dress like one. Stay away from, Wrangler jeans that are too tight, wierd button up shirts from walmart, dorky glasses frames, ANIME TSHIRTS, shirts with stupid sayings on them, New Balance tennis shoes etc etc.

To 6.) Most nerds are either obese or really really skinny. I think this is what he meant.

To 10.) It is important. If you say it's not, you have never had guy friends or sex. End.
 
Yea... forget the "Suck at sports" part.. What I meant for that is the person never played basketball, football, soccer etc. with anyone on their own will. Never really tried the sports unless was force to play during grade schools gym time or whatever. (Meaning he chose to not play cause he don't really know how to play properly and does not like it/ care to.) (Btw the list was just a very generic list, I guess I should have gone into much more detail for some of them..)

Anyways... like I said not all nerds are the same. What I am trying to tell eveybody is that some nerds are very good people to be around and some are completely weird that you don't want to be around. And is somewhat not in the right mind set...

Example of good types of nerds:

1. The ones that grow up to make tons of money like Donald Trump. Bill Gates etc.
2. Doctors. Scientists. Computer Programmers etc.


Example of bad types of nerds:

1. The guy that went crazy and shoot 30 something students on the Virginia Tech campus.
2. Kids that bring gun to school cause they were bully and try to shoot people they hate than commit sucide. (I know I am not the only one that hears these type of stories on the news.)
